What private blood tests are available?

At Qrystal Pharmacy you can book private blood tests for everything from a basic Full Blood Count to specialist hormone, thyroid, sexual health, and nutritional panels. Samples are taken on-site by our trained phlebotomist, sent to UKAS-accredited UK labs, and the results come back to you with a written report and an optional clinician consultation.

Most patients use private blood testing because they want answers faster than the NHS pathway can provide, because they want a panel their GP can't easily order, or because they want a regular health check-up. We don't replace your GP — we work alongside them, and with your consent we can share results electronically so your medical record stays joined up.

Most panels return results within 3-5 working days. Some specialist tests take longer; you'll be told the expected turnaround when you book.

Who can book a private blood test?

  • Adults aged 18 and over for most panels
  • Children 12-17 with a parent or guardian present
  • Patients without a UK GP — no registration required
  • Patients managing chronic conditions wanting more frequent monitoring

Private blood tests — frequently asked questions

How quickly will I get my results?

Most panels return within 3-5 working days. Specialist tests (e.g. some hormone or genetic panels) can take longer; we'll tell you the expected turnaround when you book.

Do I need to fast before the test?

It depends on the panel. Cholesterol and glucose tests usually require a 12-hour fast; most other panels do not. We'll send fasting instructions when you book.

Can you share results with my GP?

Yes, with your written consent. We use the same secure NHS-grade messaging system used by NHS pharmacies, so your record stays joined up.

How do I choose the right test panel?

Start with your symptoms or concern. Our pharmacist can help match a panel to what you're trying to find out — book a free 10-minute pre-test consultation if you'd like guidance.

What if my result is abnormal?

Your written report flags any markers outside the reference range. For abnormal results we usually recommend a follow-up consultation — and your GP if treatment is needed.

Is my data confidential?

Yes. Your samples and results are handled to UKAS lab standards and shared only with you (and your GP if you consent). We never share results with employers, insurers, or third parties.

How much does it cost?

Costs vary by panel — from a basic Full Blood Count to specialist hormone or fertility panels. Call us with the panel you want for an exact quote.

Are children eligible?

Yes, from age 12 with a parent or guardian present. Some panels are only suitable from age 18 — our phlebotomist will advise.
